The Ocean House
172,000 Square Feet
The Ocean House is a grand Victorian hotel built in 1868 on the Rhode Island shoreline. The hotel has served as an iconic symbol on the Atlantic Ocean for more than a century. With columned porches, multi-paned windows and architectural trimmings, the seaside hotel is a magnificent site sitting perched on a bluff above a pristine beach.
Significant site preparation and demolition were necessary before crews would begin replication on the historic hotel. New construction would include added condominiums and underground parking. The new structure would be a re-creation of the historic hotel. It would also incorporate 24 luxury residences, 48 hotel rooms and an additional 30,000 square feet of porches and roof terraces.
The new Ocean House will also include a world class spa, indoor pool, three dining venues, exercise venue and full service amenities.
Virtual Building Logistics collaborated with Dimeo Construction and Centerbrook Architects & Planners on the project. VBL performed full BIM services on the iconic project.
